English Language Learners
Our ESOL students are awarded the same educational opportunities and experiences as our native English-speaking students. They partake in classrooms where a balanced literacy approach is used in conjunction with research-based instructional practices. All of our teachers (in all content areas) are well trained using this instructional practice where the primary focus is Reading. Our ESOL students have their individual academic needs met using a variety of methods which include periodic assessments, progress monitoring and intensive daily instruction in Reading and Math. Our goal at Carver Middle is to ensure that every student regardless of background, reaches their fullest potential where they are able to read, write, and compute mathematics on or above grade level. We prepare our students, including our language enriched pupils for a future where they have every opportunity to become successful.
